    What to do now

Taken twins aren't always a threat. Look closest at those that can send email. We never link to the twins, so you can't open a harmful site by mistake.

        Want help protecting your domain?

We'll set up SPF, DKIM and DMARC so email faking your exact domain gets blocked, and talk you through the twins.

        How it works

        Simple, in 3 steps.

        1. 01

          Type your domain

The one you send email from, like yourcompany.com.

        2. 02

          We make the twins

Around 100 look-alikes: typos, swapped letters, other endings and letters from other alphabets.

        3. 03

          See which are taken

We look each one up in public DNS and show which can send email as you, so you know what to act on.

        The twins we look for

Ten ways a name can be copied.

Here is one of each for a made-up company, northwind.com. The changed part is marked.

        • Other ending

          northwind.net

Same name with a different ending, like .co instead of .com.

        • Look-alike letters

          northvvind.com

Letters that look the same at a glance, like rn for m or 0 for o.

        • Foreign letter

          nоrthwind.com

A letter from another alphabet that looks exactly like yours, like a Cyrillic а.

        • Missing letter

          orthwind.com

          One letter left out.

        • Double letter

          nnorthwind.com

          One letter typed twice.

        • Swapped letters

          onrthwind.com

Two letters next to each other swapped.

        • Next-key typo

          borthwind.com

One letter replaced by a key next to it on the keyboard.

        • Added hyphen

          n-orthwind.com

A hyphen added inside the name.

        • Added word

          northwind-mail.com

A common word added, like -mail, -login or get-.

        • Missing dot

          wwwnorthwind.com

The dot after www left out, so www.yourname.com becomes wwwyourname.com.

        Why it matters

One changed letter is all a scam needs.

        • Fake invoices

An email from accounts@yourc0mpany.com asks a client to pay a "new" bank account.

        • Fake login pages

A link to a look-alike site asks your team for their email password.

        • Hijacked replies

A scammer joins a real email thread from a twin address and nobody spots the one changed letter.

Block fakes of your exact domain

A DMARC record set to reject stops anyone sending as your real domain. Make one here.

        Register the closest twins

A few free twins with other endings or look-alike letters cost little and can't be used against you once they're yours.

Tell people where you email from

Let clients know you only email from @yourdomain and never change bank details by email.

        Questions

        Straight answers.

        What is a domain twin?

A domain that looks almost like yours, like venov1q.com for venoviq.com. Scammers buy them to send fake invoices or login pages that look like they come from you.

Does a taken twin mean someone is attacking me?

Not always. Many twins are parked, kept by domain sellers or owned by a real business with a similar name. The ones to watch are those set up to send email.

Why is "can send email" the biggest risk?

A twin with mail servers or an SPF record is ready to send and receive email. That is what a scammer needs to trick your clients or staff.

What is a "foreign letter" twin?

Some letters from the Cyrillic and Greek alphabets look exactly like English ones. A domain made with them can look identical to yours in an email or browser.

Do you buy domains or contact anyone?

No. We only read public DNS records. Nothing is bought, registered or sent, and the owners of the twins are not told.

Do you see or save my domain?

No. The check runs in your browser. It asks Cloudflare's public DNS about each twin. Nothing comes to us.

Every slow reply is a chance for someone else to win the client.

Let's make sure the next one is yours.
